What Are Product Categories?

Product Categories are a powerful way to organize your products beyond just categories or menus. Think of them as custom tags that let you group items together for specific reporting or operational purposes.

Why Are They Useful?

  1. POS Printer Routing

    Product Categories are also essential when configuring printers. If a printer is set to print for a specific group, then any order that includes an item from that group will automatically be sent to that printer. This is especially useful in kitchens where different items need to go to different prep stations. Learn more about printers.

    ✅ Example: You can create a group called “Grill” and assign it to all grilled items. If the Grill printer is configured for that group, it will only print orders containing those specific items — streamlining operations and reducing confusion.

  2. Reporting Filters

    Product Categories appear in the By Item report as a multi-select filter. This allows you to generate more targeted reports — for example, you can view sales only for items in a certain group like Beverages, Appetizers, or Seasonal Items.

Go to Product Categories Page

Find the product categories page on the side menu, or click here.

Click the “+” Button

Fill in the Details

  • Category name in English

    • Example: Breakfast Dishes

  • Category name in Arabic

    • Example: أطباق الفطور

  • Set Status to Active

  • (Optional) Add a category image
